KUCHING, Aug 3: A total of 51 Covid-19 cases have been detected at a community market at Jalan Stutong here, thus triggering the Pasar Stutong 2 Cluster in Kuching.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the cluster involved a community market located along Jalan Stutong near Tabuan Jaya here.
A total of 140 individuals have been screened, whereby 89 individuals have tested negative and no lab test results are pending.
All the positive cases have been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) Kuching.
The Pasar Stutong 2 Cluster is one of three new Covid-19 clusters announced in Sarawak today. The remaining two are workplace clusters in Subis dubbed the Mega Suai Cluster with 24 cases, and in Bintulu named the Jalan Kemena Industry Estate 38 Cluster with 17 cases.
SDMC also declared the end of the Jalan Tasik Biru By-Pass Cluster in Bau today after no new local cases have been reported in the past 28 days.
With this, the number of active clusters in Sarawak is now 84, out of which eight clusters recorded 81 more cases today.
They are Kampung Telaga Air Cluster in Kuching which picked up 27 more cases, the new Mega Suai Cluster in Subis (23 cases), new Jalan Kemena Industry Estate 38 Cluster in Bintulu (16 cases), Kampung Paon Rimu Cluster in Serian (5 cases), Kampung Git Cluster in Kuching (4 cases), Kampung Kendaie Cluster in Lundu (3 cases), Kampung Tanjung Tuang Cluster in Samarahan (2 cases) and Jalan Selalang Cluster in Sarikei (1 case). — DayakDaily
