New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak increase to 284

KUCHING, Feb 15: The number of new Covid-19 positive cases in Sarawak has jumped to 284 today, as compared to 206 cases yesterday.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, Kuching topped the list with 92 cases, followed by Miri (77), Sibu (58), and Kapit (13).

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 254,717.


Districts that reported single digit cases are Bintulu (7), Kanowit (7), Samarahan (6), Serian (6), Limbang (5), Sarikei (3), Meradong (3), Sri Aman (2) and Telang Usan (2) while Mukah and Bau recorded one case each.

Of the total cases, 150 were categorised under Category 1 with no symptoms while another 133 were reported under Category 2, with mild symptoms.

There is one case under Category 3 (lung infection) while no patients were categorised under Category 4 (lung infection and require oxygen support) and 5 (lung infection and require ventilator support).

No new death nor clusters were reported in Sarawak in the last 24-hours.

Meanwhile, the police have issued nine compounds to individuals in Kuching for failing to scan the MySejahtera QR code or manually registering attendance when entering a premises and failure to use face mask. — DayakDaily
