New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak fall to 19 today, Kuching remains top with 10 cases

KUCHING, Jan 6: The number of new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has dropped to 19 today from 47 cases reported yesterday.

Of the 19 new infections, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said three cases were in critical stages of Category 3, 4 and 5 while the balance of 16 cases were in Category 1 and 2.

For cases in the critical stage, two patients were classified as being in Category 5 who require ventilator support and one patient is in Category 4 on breathing aid.

There were also eight patients classified in Category 2 having mild symptoms and another eight patients in Category 1 who were asymptomatic.

The 19 new cases reported has brought the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the State to 252,443.

By district, Kuching reported the highest number of new infections with 10 cases.

This was followed by Miri and Lawas, which reported two cases each.

Bintulu, Song, Samarahan, Telang Usan and Subis reported one case respectively.

There are no new deaths or new clusters identified in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
