New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak declines to 14

KUCHING, Dec 31: The number of new Covid-19 positive cases in Sarawak today has declined to 14 cases as reported from nine districts.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 252,300.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, a total of five cases were reported in Bintulu, followed by two cases in Pusa.


Seven other districts namely Sibu, Kuching, Miri, Telang Usan, Sri Aman, Simunjan and Selangau, reported one case each.

On the breakdown of cases category, a total of 12 cases were reported under Category 1 and 2, with three asymptomatic cases each under Category 1, while nine cases under Category 2 have mild symptoms.

Two other cases were classified under Category 5 with lung infection and require ventilator support, while zero cases were reported in Category 3 and 4.

As of today, no new death or clusters were reported in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the committee also conveyed the Sarawak government’s appreciation to Senior Defense Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein for the recognition to allow Sarawak to transition into Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) beginning Jan 3. — DayakDaily
