New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak climb to 58, Kuching logs 21

KUCHING, Feb 6: The number of new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak reported today increased to 58 cases compared to 42 cases yesterday.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 253,003.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, Kuching reported 21 cases, followed by Sibu (14), Miri (13), Kanowit (4), and Lawas (3) while Kapit, Selangau and Tatau recorded one case each.


Of the new cases, 35 were categorised under Category 1 with no symptoms while 19 were reported under Category 2, with mild symptoms.

No cases were classified under Categories 3 (lung infection), 4 (lung infection and require oxygen support) and 5 (lung infection and require ventilator support).

No new deaths or clusters were reported in Sarawak in the most recent 24-hour period.

Meanwhile, the police issued 10 compounds to individuals for failing to scan the MySejahtera QR code or manually register attendance when entering a premises. — DayakDaily
