New Covid-19 cases drop to 852, Kuching remains biggest contributor with 305

KUCHING, March 20: Sarawak’s daily Covid-19 case count continued to show a declining trend, down to 852 from 1,177 yesterday.

According to a report by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Kuching continues to be the most affected district with 305 cases, followed by Miri with 147.

Sibu (86), Bintulu (82), Serian (43), Samarahan (42), Sarikei (20), Sri Aman (19), and Bau (10) are the seven districts which saw double-digit gains in new cases.

The remaining districts with single-digit case counts are Saratok (9), Dalat, Tebedu, and Betong (7 each), Limbang and Simunjan (6 each), Kanowit, Meradong, and Subis (5 each), Mukah, Pusa, Lawas, Lubok Antu, Pakan, and Asajaya (4 each), Daro, Kapit, Marudi, and Matu (3 each), and Julau, Telang Usan, Lundu, Sebauh, and Beluru (1 each).

Meanwhile, 312 of the new cases were classified as Category 1 (asymptomatic), while 532 were classified as Category 2 (mild symptoms).

Additionally, two of the new cases reported were in Category 3 and involved patients with pneumonia; three were in Category 4 and involved patients with pneumonia who needed oxygen support; and three were in Category 5 and involved patients with pneumonia who needed ventilator support.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases for Sarawak now stands at 287,847. — DayakDaily
