KUCHING, Aug 4: The construction of
a Class 3 health clinic in Serian is expected to be fully completed by June 9, 2022.
Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba disclosed that the construction work for the project, which was implemented in phases by the Public Works Department (PWD) Sarawak, started on June 10 this year and is scheduled to take two years.
“The project is approved by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Minister’s Department to be implemented under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) 2015.
“Phase one involved earthworks on Dec 1, 2016 and was fully completed on July 20, 2017.
“Phase two involved building structure works tendered on Sept 14, 2019 with closing of tender on Oct 7, 2019. The Letter of Acceptance or SST was issued on March 3, 2020,” he said in response to Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem’s question in the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur today.
Dr Adham gave assurance that the Ministry of Health, PWD Sarawak and other government agencies will work closely together to ensure that the project is carried out smoothly in line with the ministry’s aspiration to have it completed according to timeline, cost and standards issued.
On Riot’s request for the building of two more similar clinics in Tebedu and Bunan Gega, Dr Adham said that the ministry has discussed the construction of a replacement health clinic in Tebedu under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP). —DayakDaily
