KUCHING, Nov 25: A Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) is set to be established in Teng Bekap, Padawan, with a substantial allocation of RM5 million, announced Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
Sagah stated that the project site, allocated under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), has been identified at the old Padawan sub-district office, which is now vacant.
“I want it to start as soon as possible,” Sagah, also the Tarat assemblyman, told reporters after officiating the opening of the Bidayuh Graduates Forum at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Multipurpose Hall.
He emphasised that Centexs falls under Yayasan Sarawak but is under the supervision of his ministry.
Sagah expressed his hope for the project to commence promptly and delegated the responsibility to Yayasan Sarawak to facilitate the necessary procedures.
Teng Bekap, situated within the Tarat state constituency and Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency, will join the ranks of existing Centexs centres located in Jalan Rampangi, Kuching, Mukah, Betong, and Lundu.
During the forum, Sagah stressed the importance of Bidayuh individuals being forward-thinking, knowledgeable, progressive, and competitive in the digital era. He commended such forums for their role in enhancing the Bidayuh community.
Education Advisor in the Premier’s office, Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong, who sponsored the event, and Deputy Minister of Food Industry and Commodity Sarawak, Martin Ben, were among the notable attendees. — DayakDaily
