KUCHING, Jan 14: A newborn baby allegedly thrown down from a building at Jalan Bukit Mata was found by members of the public last night.
Kuching police district chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani confirmed the case and a 19-year-old teenage girl has been arrested.
“The baby, who died from severe head injuries, was found at 9.20pm by the public, who later informed the police.
“Following a preliminary investigation, he said police succeeded in detecting and arresting the teen, believed to be the mother of the baby to assist in investigations,” Awang Din said.
He added that the teen was staying in a hotel nearby.
The body of the baby was sent to Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem, while the teen was also sent to the same place for medical treatment.
The case was being investigated for murder under Section 318 of the Penal Code. -DayakDaily
