KUCHING, March 28: The new towering ‘Bario’ sign has the potential to become a popular destination for tourists.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report today, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala stated that the landmark sign was erected as part of the Bario Community Park development, which will be completed in the future.

“This phase involves the development of the landmark sign and the construction of a road up the hill for visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery,” he was quoted as saying in the news report.

Gerawat made the remarks at a media briefing during a recent working visit to Bario.

Gerawat, who is also Mulu assemblyman, expressed appreciation to the Miri City Council for constructing the landmark and the Highland Development Agency (HDA) for the allocation provided.
