KUCHING, Jan 9: A new 100-bed field hospital was set up in Sibu Hospital in preparation to deal with the potential surge of the Omicron variant.

Deputy Chief Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said the field hospital, costing approximately RM1.5 million, including the beds and various equipment, was funded by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“This is an improved version of the canvas-based military field hospital as seen in SGH (Sarawak General Hospital) or Miri Hospital,” he said in a social media post yesterday.
