KUCHING, Nov 6: A 10-storey hotel in Kapit will soon rise beside the iconic Kapit Lily Pond, set to breathe new life into one of the town’s most recognisable landmarks while redefining its skyline.
Occupying a 1.59-acre site adjacent to the existing Lily Pond, the project seeks to revitalise the area through a design concept that celebrates the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the site.
According to a video presentation by Borneo Development Corporation (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd during Majlis Merarau Bersama Komuniti Kapit attended by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the upcoming hotel will feature over 100 guest rooms, a coffee house, meeting rooms, a banquet hall that can accommodate up to 500 guests, and a rooftop sky bar offering panoramic views of Kapit.
The hotel’s architecture takes inspiration from the original Lily Pond, incorporating organic, lily-inspired elements into its facade and landscape design to create a harmonious connection between modern development and nature.
Demolition works are currently underway at the site to prepare for construction. — DayakDaily
