SIBU, Jan 1: Sibu District Police Chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit has denied a Facebook posting of a kidnapping case at a residence on Lorong 4, Jalan Sentosa.

According to him, an FB account under the username “H.D” on Dec 31 had posted that his baby boy was almost kidnapped by an unidentified man wearing a full-faced helmet while sitting in his baby chair in the living room.

He said that the man’s wife panicked after reading his FB posting and rushed home.

“The owners of the FB account also advised the public not to leave their children alone without parents’ supervision and he wanted the ‘incident’ to serve as a good lesson for the family,” Stanley said when contacted today.

In his posting, the man claimed that he would lodge a police report on the matter. He also said that the Sentosa area was unsafe and asked netizens to share his posting.

“The so-called incident did not happen at all and the owner of the Facebook account has deleted his Facebook account as what he had written on his FB was just his opinion,” Stanley said.

Stanley warned the public against sharing false information on social media as it would scare people, including threatening public order. —DayakDaily
