KUCHING, March 25: The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) will conduct a three-day visit to Sarawak from March 28  to March 30 to enhance and build on trade and investment relations between the business community of Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak.

NCCIM in a statement today said the purpose of the visit is also to promote collaborations to drive for new heights in Domestic Direct Investments (DDIs), especially in Sarawak.

“NCCIM strongly advocates on the strategic significance of Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) as a catalyst of economic growth.

“There has been a slide in DDI levels in recent years; and there is an urgent need to intensify efforts to promote and encourage DDIs,” it said.

NCCIM also hoped that the visit to Sarawak will open up the channels of mobilising the businesses of Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak to be closer knitted and collaborated in managing the challenges in the global business arena.

The chamber is also looking forward to positive development for collaboration of businesses from the two sides to drive each other towards higher level of DDIs.

“This include joint efforts to enhance our competence and capacity to tap on the opportunities arising from Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), including those under the Belt Road Initiative (BRI), and the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).

“An establishment of a NCCIM-SBF Platform to drive closer collaboration of businesses on the Peninsular and Sarawak front,” the statement read.

The delegation will be led by NCCIM and ACCCIM president Dato’ Low Kian Chuan, together with 5 of the camber’s Vice Presidents of NCCIM and key council members. — DayakDaily
