KUCHING, May 11: One new Covid-19 fatality was reported, while 88 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, said Ministry of Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Dr Noor Hisham in the daily press conference to give Covid-19 updates in Putrajaya today said that Malaysia’s 109th death, which is case number 6,657, involved a 63-year-old Malaysian male.
“The deceased, who had a background of diabetes and liver cancer, was treated in Kuala Lumpur Hospital on May 8, 2020 and was confirmed dead on May 10, 2020, at 5.15am
“This bring the total of deaths in the country to 109 cases (1.62 per cent of total cases),” he said.
Dr Noor Hisham also noted that as of 12pm today, 70 new Covid-19 positive cases were also reported.
Thirteen of these cases are imported, while the remaining 57 cases are locally transmitted.
“As of now, 20 Covid-19 positive cases are being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), whereby seven of them are under respiratory assistance,” he added. — DayakDaily
