SIBU, Feb 26: The fast-developing Kemuyang housing area will receive comprehensive sports facilities for the youth.

These sporting facilities, according to Nangka assemblyman, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee include hockey fields, football fields, and a multipurpose hall for sepak takraw and basketball.

“The most important facility is the construction of the hockey field, which will be the first hockey field in the central zone. Until now, there are only two hockey fields in Kuching, and nowhere else in Sarawak,ā€ he said at the pre-launching of a new football field in Kemuyang last night.

The proposed hockey field, he said, is undergoing the tendering process.

As for the football field, Dr Annuar said that it is the second one in the Nangka constituency that is equipped with ample lighting.

“This field uses real grass compared to the synthetic field in Permai. I will also strive to add two more football fields like this in the Nangka constituency.

“I have identified the locations, but I am still negotiating to acquire the land so that it can be developed into a football field that can be used at night,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Four Corners League was held in conjunction with the pre-launch of the field.

The friendly matches involved Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea fan clubs. ā€” DayakDaily
