KUCHING, Oct 18: The co-founder of the financially troubled budget airline MYAirline Sdn Bhd, Datuk Allan Goh Hwan Hua, has been apprehended by the Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department.
The arrest of Goh, who is the majority shareholder of the troubled airline, was confirmed by Department’s director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf.
According to various national news outlets, the police also arrested Goh’s wife, Neow Ean Lee, 55, and son, Goh Tze Han, 26.
All three individuals have been detained for a period of four days to aid in ongoing investigations, conducted under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLA) 2001.
“Yes, I can confirm the arrest (of Goh) along with his wife and son at this time,” he told Malay Mail.
They were arrested at their residence in Shah Alam at 5.30pm yesterday (Oct 17).
MYAirline, which abruptly suspended all operations on Oct 12, citing financial issues, has left 125,000 passengers in a lurch. These passengers had collectively purchased tickets worth RM120 million. — DayakDaily
