KUCHING, March 1: Muslims in Malaysia will begin fasting on Sunday (March 2, 2025), according to the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.

When announcing it last night, he said that the first day of fasting for all states was set according to the order of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, after being consented by the Rulers.

The brief announcement was broadcast live via Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) last night.

According to a news report by RTM, the Office of the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal said through a statement that it set the date for sighting the Ramadan crescent moon to determine the start of fasting for Muslims in Malaysia yesterday, Feb 28, corresponding to 29 Sha’ban 1446 Hijri.

The relevant committees observed the Ramadan crescent moon yesterday evening at 29 important locations across the country, including Miri Astronomy Center; Teluk Bandung, Kuching; and Bintulu Astronomy Center. – DayakDaily
