SIBU, Aug 29: Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon led the list of over 500 recipients honoured with Sarawak State orders and medals at an investiture ceremony held at Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) today.
The awards were conferred by Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
Chukpai was conferred the Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS), alongside Junih Salleh Ahmad and Law Siew Hie.
Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine was awarded the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK).
Among the recipients of Pingat Pentadbiran Awam, Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (PPC) were Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) director Samuel Simon as well as Kueh Lei Poh, Dominic Chuggat, John Kenedy Janang, and Ir Rodziah Mohamad.
Temenggong Dato Wilfred Billy Panyau led the recipients of the Pingat Pewira Negeri (PPN-Bronze), with other honorees including Han Hipeni, Abang Bolhassan Abang Rabaie, Abang Ibrahim Abang Kipni, Majeri Li, Mohd Ibrahim Abdullah, Michael Ancho Tabor, Sengalang Uyang, Liew Tubow, Bilun Mandaw, Andrew Anyi Emang, Nyaiyang Angi, Usa Dana, Riman Unggang, Basa Gali, Peter Bat Wan, and Samson Michael Juan.
The Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) was awarded to Bukit Assek assemblyman Chieng Jin Ek, Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Tanjung Batu assemblyman Ts. Johnny Pang Leong Ming, Temenggong Awangku Ibrahim Awangku Hosan, Jeffery Phang Siaw Foong, Ling Thian Ing, and Nee Lian Chin.
The ceremony was also attended by the Sarawak Governor’s wife Toh Puan Sri Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, Minister of Food, Commodities, and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Deputy Minister of Education and Innovation Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa’ee, Deputy Secretary (Administration) Datu Buckland Bangik, Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata, and Sibu Resident Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman. — DayakDaily
