The murder, which took place at the end of July, shocked the local community.

During the arrest, the police seized a homemade firearm, known locally as a “bakakok,” which is suspected to have been used in the crime.

The suspect has been remanded by the Miri Court for seven days until Sept 18, to assist in further investigations.

Alexson urged the public to refrain from speculating about the case or spreading unverified information on social media, as it could cause unnecessary fear and distress in the community.

He also encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.

“The police greatly values the community’s cooperation in ensuring safety and security within the Miri District. Those with any information may approach the nearest police station or contact us at 085-433730,” he said.
