KUCHING, Dec 19: Dato Gerawat Gala’s 2,875 vote-majority win in N78 Mulu marks the last of GPS’ 76-seat landslide victory in the 12th Sarawak Election.

The election results of Mulu were just announced on the Election Commission’s (EC) official website today.

Gerawat had garnered 3,731 votes, defending his seat and defeating Son Radu of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), who had 856 votes.

Roland Engan of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) also lost the fight with 810 votes, while Richard Ibuh of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) attracted only 199 votes and lost his deposit.

Mulu’s results could not be announced on polling night last night due to transportation issues involving two ballot boxes that could not reach the constituency’s official counting centre (PRU).

EC chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said the helicopter carrying the two ballot boxes had to be grounded on its way to PRU due to inclement weather in Mulu.

To sum it up, GPS had in this State election secured 76 seats, PSB four seats, and DAP two seats. — DayakDaily
