Muhyiddin, RoS have given Sarawakians a huge sigh of relief — Snowdan

KUCHING, Nov 20: “We shall now move forward with greater pace than ever”.

That’s what Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan said when he got news yesterday that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)’s application for registration has been approved by the Registrar Of Societies (RoS).

He added that this was such a “great and timely news” and a huge sigh of relief for all Sarawakians as they now have a solid and reliable political block that is initiated and run completely by Sarawakians.

“Now we have our very own state-based coalition without having to be affiliated to any Malaya-based party, as we did during the Barisan Nasional (BN) era where we had to be attached to the dominant United Malays National Organisation (Umno),” remarked Snowdan, who is also the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, in a statement today.

Snowdan recalled that there was so much anxiety and many question marks over the status of GPS’ application in the last three months.

“We waited patiently with our fingers crossed but still keeping our confidence up until yesterday when the moment of truth was unveiled,” he said.

Snowdan said PRS is very thankful to Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for granting this approval.

“I would, preferably, wish to categorically classify this as almost an absolute recognition by Putrajaya of our political strength down here, across the South China Sea, yet a willing test of perseverance for us here at the state, though it was supposed to be routine,” he said.

With this development, Snowdan said the ruling coalition was now more than ready to explain to the people about this local pact.

“Next will be our roadshows or even townhall sessions at longhouses and in the rural areas.

“Just wait and see, and bear with us, for execution time is here now,” he said. — DayakDaily
