Muhyiddin, please help Sarawak to be on par with Malaya ASAP

Dato Sim Kiang Chiok

KUCHING, April 1: Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Kuching Branch chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok is urging Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to help Sarawak be on par with Peninsular Malaysia.

“My hope is that he (Muhyiddin) will help Sarawak to be as developed as Malaya (Peninsular Malaysia) especially in infrastructure, business opportunities, education and health in the shortest time possible,” he said.

This was one of his requests other than the restoration of Sarawak’s autonomous rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), for the Prime Minister as the latter visits Sarawak for two days, today and tomorrow (April 2).

In the fight against Covid-19, he appealed for assistance from Muhyiddin to increase the supply of vaccines to Sarawak while assisting the State to purchase additional doses of vaccines from producing countries directly without Kuala Lumpur as the middleman.

Adding on, he hoped for the extension of all necessary assistance until the country has achieved the 70 per cent herd immunity through the vaccination programme by August this year.

Sim also said the two-day walkabout in Sarawak would allow Muhyiddin to learn first hand of the State’s situation in coping with Covid-19, and thus evaluate the country’s readiness for the lifting of the emergency order.

“He is leading the government under the Emergency Ordinance (EO) that was committed by our Agong (Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah) to end on Aug 1.

“It is timely for him to assess our readiness for the lifting of EO in view that he has also announced our country’s vaccination plan against the virus,” he said in a statement today.

Applauding the Prime Minister’s consistent efforts in fighting the coronavirus while providing assistance to the people during this pandemic, he expressed his hopes that Muhyiddin would continue to strive together with the people in this war with Covid-19. — DayakDaily
