Muhd Luqman Daniel places third to win Sarawak’s first track medal in JCM Track Series 1-2022

Muhammad Luqman Daniel placed third to win Sarawak’s first track medal in 2022 in the 4KM Individual Pursuit Final at the JCM Track Series 1-2022.

KUCHING, Feb 10: Muhammad Luqman Daniel won bronze and Sarawak’s first track medal in 2022 in the 4KM Individual Pursuit Final at the Junior Cycling Malaysia (JCM) Track Series 1-2022 held at the Johor Velodrome on Wednesday (Feb 9).

The Sarawak cycling team in a statement today, said Muhammad Luqman finished third with a time of 4:44.499 at an average speed of 50.615 km/h behind the more experienced racers and competition favorites, the winner, Abdul Azim Aliyas of Majlis Sukan Negara (4:32:826 @ 52.781 km/h) and first runner-up, Waldron Chee Wen Chun of Sabah (4:40:721 @ 51.296 km/h).

It also said the Sarawak cycling team for this event consisted of Josiah Ong (head coach), Irawan Sudarsono (team manager) and two riders namely Muhammad Luqman Daniel and Harrith Affan, who were due to race in the Men’s U23 4km Individual Pursuit, the Men’s U23 Omnium and the Men’s U23 Kilometer events.


“Unfortunately, due to an outbreak in Covid-19 cases among the teams competing today (Feb 10), the organisers have decided to cancel the rest of the events for the JCM Track Series 1–2022,” the statement added.

The Sarawak cycling team also conveyed its appreciation to Sarawak Sports Corporation and Sarawak Cycling Association (SCA) for their continuous support, as well as its sponsors Team Purpose, Hutan Ration, The Fresh Company, and Kuching Cycle Hub among others. — DayakDaily
