MTUC Sarawak demands PBB leader retract “unfounded” allegation

Andrew Lo

KUCHING, Feb 27: Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) Sarawak Division today demanded Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Datuk Idris Buang to retract his allegation that both MTUC Sarawak Division chairman Mohd Ibrahim and its secretary, Andrew Lo, were lying about the subject matters contained in the press releases that Lo had released previously.

“He failed, neglected and/or refused to find out from MTUC whether or not press statements issued by the secretary needs to be approved by a council or board meeting.

“Despite Haji Mohd Ibrahim’s confirmation that all statements issued by the secretary reflect the stance of MTUC and that MTUC Sarawak stands by the statement issued by Mr Lo, he maliciously insisted that both Mr Lo and Mohd Ibrahim are lying.

“MTUC Sarawak expects Datuk Idris Buang to do the decent thing and retracts his unfounded allegations that “both Andrew and Haji Mohd is/are lying”,” Lo said in a statement issued here today.

Lo was referring to the statement issued by Idris dated Feb 20, 2019, as carried in online news portals.

Lo insisted that MTUC always welcomes and respects criticisms from anyone who does not agree with it, and it stands corrected if any of its statements were inaccurate.

“However, MTUC believes that PBB information chief Datuk Idris Buang’s statement that MTUC chairman Haji Mohd Ibrahim and secretary Andrew Lo are lying is defamatory, malicious and insulting, calculated to reduce and damage the estimation and reputation of Haji Ibrahim and Mr Lo and those whom they represent, including MTUC and all workers in Sarawak,” Lo said.

When contacted, Idris said he would defer to respond, saying he would do so at an appropriate time. — DayakDaily
