Msia’s High Commission in the UK will help put Sarawak in good light

LONDON, Oct 10: The High Commissioner of Malaysia to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Datuk Mohamad Sadik Kethergany, pledged to help manage the negative perceptions of the nation among the European countries.

This especially on issues relating to the state’s development policies, in particular land development and forest management.

“I assure that I would assist to promote Sarawak to the United Kingdom (UK) and other European countries as a tourism destination, especially on culture, adventure and nature,” he said in a statement issued after the visit of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan in London on Oct 8 (Tuesday).


Awang Tengah, during the visit, said Sarawak’s land and forest management policies are among the best in the world for balanced and sustainable development, which is misunderstood by the west.

He also briefed Mohamad Sadik, who is also a Sarawakian, the latest updates on the state’s investment climate and incentives, as well as its land and forest management policies.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) UK trade commissioner, Megat Iskandar Ahmad Dassilah, was present.

Awang Tengah’s delegation included Assistant Minister for International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, and the Ministry’s permanent secretary Datu Liaw Soon Eng. — DayakDaily
