KUCHING, April 25: MRCS Sarawak is providing 20 wheelchairs for use by elderly and physically challenged folks coming to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations at the Indoor Sports Stadium in Kuching here.

Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sarawak director Chai King Sing said the society would lend 20 wheelchairs to assist the Sarawak government in accommodating the elderly and physically challenged throughout vaccination exercise.

Chai today delivered the first five wheelchairs. Receiving them on behalf of the State government was Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Uggah has been visiting the Indoor Sports Stadium daily to check on the progress of the immunisation programme.

Last week, Divine Will Society donated 10 wheelchairs for the programme at Indoor Sports Stadium at the request of Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.

Wee during his visit to the vaccination centre on Friday (April 23) observed that there was a shortage of wheelchairs to cope with the number of senior citizens who turned up for the vaccination programme. — DayakDaily
