KUCHING, August 20: Police lance corporal Mohd Hafizul Tuah proved he has the best body in the country when he clinched the ‘Champion of Champions’ title at the Mr Malaysia 2018 bodybuilding competition, held in Melaka today.

The Kuching-born cop earned the right to compete in the ultimate showdown when he won the Light Heavyweight (85-90kg) title earlier in the three-day national competition that was hosted by Malacca Amateur Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association (MAWBA) at SJKC Pay Teck.

Representing PDRM, Hafizul said he had been involved in this sport since 2016 and his winnings today were “a bit surreal and overwhelming”.

“Only a few people have faith in me, so it’s a bit emotional,” Hafizul, who joined PDRM in 2009, said in a statement.

On his preparations for Mr Malaysia 2018, Hafizul said besides the tough training, he had to dig deep into his pockets for meals and supplements, among others. Fortunately, he added, his family, colleagues and officers-in-charge at Hilir Perak District police headquarters as well as Vita Xtrong Supplements stood behind him.

“My special thanks to officers Supt Gazali Yunos and Sgt Othman Yahya, who is also my coach. He never fails to remind me about my training every day,” he revealed.

Hafizul was also excited to see the Sarawak team cheering him on.

“I may represent PDRM but I’m forever proud to be a Sarawakian,” he said.
