KUCHING, Nov 26: Members of Parliament today have shown their solidarity and wisdom by supporting Budget 2021 to be passed in Parliament, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) veteran lawmaker Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

He said the perception that the opposition MPs would have supported Budget 2021 as a result of the advice from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong could be the main reason.

“MPs have their own opinion even after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has advised us to support the bill.

“But what is important is that, most of the MPs supported the budget except for 13. I believed this is because Budget 2021 is rakyat-centric and it benefits everyone. That’s why I believe we all support the budget,” Wan Juanidi told DayakDaily here today.

On the other hand, if the budget was rejected and not approved today, it would have spelt doom for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.

“If the budget was rejected, the PM has to advice the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament and subsequently a snap election must be called.

“But during this Covid-19 pandemic, who would want that to happen?,” he asked.

Wan Junaidi, who is also Santubong MP and Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives described the budget as ‘very good’ and inclusive that has allowed the opposition MPs to support it.

“This is the best budget that we could have during this very challenging time due to Covid-19 pandemic. It’s not politically inclined but based on how we could sail though this pandemic and also post Covid-19, to rebuild our economy,” he added. — DayakDaily
