KUCHING, April 9: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang has rebutted special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen, Abdul Aziz Isa’s claims, alleging the council is slow in responding to public complaints.

Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, asserted MPP has always given priority to resolve issues which affected the livelihood of the people, not just erosion issues, but every one of them.

“The council is working hard trying to look after the entire MPP area. So it is utterly unconscionable for Aziz to falsely accuse MPP for not doing anything.

“We have to prioritise our efforts, and we have to do those which are urgent to the public,” he told reporters when visiting an erosion wall construction project site along Jalan Semeba today.

On March 23, 2021, Abdul Aziz posted in his Facebook page alleging that MPP has failed to take any action to resolve the landslide issue on a private land in Kampung Semeba, and that MPP neglected its duty in addressing the issue after delaying it for over a month.

He said all Abdul Aziz was doing is deliberately misleading as well as misinforming the public just to make himself politically relevant by bringing up the erosion problem without checking with the council.

“That is why I am very unhappy with Abdul Aziz. He did not check his facts properly before launching his provoked, unfounded, scurrilous attack on MPP,” he added.

Lo explained the erosion issue on an individual property that was highlighted by Abdul Aziz at Lorong 4, in Kampung Semeba is one of the 37 complaints received by MPP in its area.

He said MPP is currently addressing a major erosion problem along Jalan Semeba, and assured that they will help those who are facing the same issue in Lorong 4, Kampung Semeba as well.— DayakDaily
