KUCHING, Jan 7: RM400,000 worth of Kota Sentosa market improvement works will commence in February 2023.

Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang said the plan is already in the pipeline with an allocation from Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap under his Rural Transformation Project (RTP).

He said MPP has officially received the approval of the funds in October 2022 and the works are expected to start after the required procurement processes.

Lo, in a statement today, said both himself and Yap have talked to the market traders to get their feedback on types of improvement or repair needed, which include installing additional fans, replacing damaged steel covers and fixing broken tiles.

Lo was responding to Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen’s correspondence and social media publications regarding the maintenance issues at Kota Sentosa Market recently.

Lo pointed out that the Council is doing everything possible to resolve as many requests as possible.

However, he said, an understanding that some processes require specific procedures to be applied before the physical works could proceed is respectfully required. — DayakDaily
