KUCHING, Dec 30: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) will allow a maximum of six entertainment premises to operate at Block D, MJC, Batu Kawa.

According to the press release, the limitation is to strike a balance between commercial activity and the well-being of local residents.

MPP Chairman Cr. Tan Kai said that the decision was made by the council’s Market, Licensing and Enforcement Standing Committee and subsequently endorsed during a Full Council Meeting in Kota Padawan today.

He explained that the move was necessary to ensure fair treatment for both the business community and those living in the immediate vicinity.

“As the block currently houses several entertainment outlets, MPP is determined to ensure that nearby residents and businesses are not adversely affected by the activities carried out in the area,” said Tan

He further reminded all entertainment licence applicants within the MPP jurisdiction to conduct their operations responsibly to maintain a peaceful and harmonious environment within commercial zones.

Tan emphasised that the council would continue to monitor these activities closely and implement necessary improvements to ensure a “win-win” situation, allowing businesses to thrive without disrupting the daily lives of the surrounding community. — DayakDaily
