KUCHING, March 11: Grass-cutting and drain-cleaning contractors have been issued a warning that their contracts with the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will be terminated if they fail to comply after repeated warning notices for unsatisfactory work.
However, MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos said that contractors who have done satisfactory jobs will be considered for contract renewal the following year.
“MPKS is fed up with contractors who don’t listen and heed to the council’s advice.
“The council cannot check and monitor its many contractors every day, and we rely a lot on your honesty and integrity. If you do a good job, we pay you on time,” he said during a briefing with contractors today.
Minos went on to say that members of the public are always alert and will swiftly complain to MPKS if they are unhappy with the contractors.
“There is no excuse for not having enough workers and machinery. When you bid for work, you’ve told MPKS that you have everything—do not forget and break your own pledges and words,” he said. — DayakDaily
