KUCHING, Oct 1: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) aims to carry out greening and landscaping activities along the three-mile road stretch between Kuap Bridge and Samarahan Bridge.
MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos said this proposed project will commence after the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project in Samarahan is completed by the end of next year.
“MPKS has set up a special task force headed by me on the above at its full council meeting today.
“The task force will seek for the right consultant and a really proven competent landscape architect. It will do a masterplan of the greening and landscaping project, which must be approved by the relevant authorities prior to seeking funding,” he said in a statement today.
Minos further viewed the beautification initiative as necessary especially along the ART expressway at the roundabouts in Samarahan.
“People coming into Kota Samarahan want to be greeted by beauty and nature. This will be good for Kota Samarahan which will be a linear city, with housing estates and businesses on both sides of the expressway.
“MPKS ultimately wants Kota Samarahan, a combined educational and an upcoming medical hub, to become a place of joy and beauty with plants and flowers all over,” he added. — DayakDaily
