MPKS needs more engineers to implement S’wak govt projects under IRSDA

Dato Peter Minos

KUCHING, Nov 11: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will need more engineers to implement the Sarawak government’s projects under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA).

According to its chairman Dato Peter Minos, MPKS staff currently consists of about 200 staff in MPKS, including one chief architect, two engineers, and four assistant engineers.

“We are really short of staff, especially when IRSDA projects are coming up, we need more engineers and architects to help us,” said Minos in his speech during the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council 6th anniversary celebration held at a local hotel, here today.

Minos said MPKS will be given projects by the IRSDA to transform the division into a metropolitan centre.

He also said with Samarahan turning into an intellectual centre, health centre, and then agricultural center in years to come, it will probably turn into the most developed Samarahan division.

“As such, MPKS is ready to help IRSDA and will work together with Asajaya assemblyman Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah on what we can do through IRSDA,” he added. — DayakDaily
