KUCHING, April 21: The construction of five traffic light projects at roundabouts in Kota Samarahan will resume by June or July this year, said Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos.
According to Minos, on April 20, MPKS was briefed by Public Works Department (JKR) that a new “Rescue Contractor” will soon be engaged.
“The work will be completed in 15 months time, that is by October 2023,” he said in a statement today.
Minos said the projects are vital to Samarahan because many big projects depend on it to a considerable extent, including the new hospital, the cancer centre, the infectious diseases research centre, private sector developments and many others.
He also said this include the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) project by the Sarawak Metro which will start phase one in Samarahan before the end 2022.
“Now is for Samarahan people and others to exercise patience and to be thankful that the stalled project will resume soon,” he added. – DayakDaily.
