KOTA SAMARAHAN, June 13: Two men on a motorcycle smashed the rear windshield of a car, causing it to crack, before fleeing the scene along Jalan Samarindah here last night.
In a TVS news report, Kota Samarahan District Police chief Superintendent Damataries Lautin said the incident occurred at 7.47pm.
The driver of the Perodua Bezza, a 36-year-old man, did not stop but continued home and later lodged a police report.
“The victim was unaware of the motive behind the suspects’ actions in damaging his car’s rear windshield.
“He also stated that he has never had any disputes with anyone, nor has he borrowed money from any agent or loan shark,” he said in a statement today.
A background check revealed the victim has no prior criminal record. Checks through the one-stop centre also confirmed that this was his first time filing a police report.
“There was no closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the scene, but the victim’s vehicle was equipped with a dashcam.
“However, upon reviewing the footage, the motorcycle and suspects were not visible due to the area being poorly lit. Only the reflection of the motorcycle’s headlights could be seen.
“The motorcycle’s license plate number and images of the suspects were not captured,” he added.
Further investigation is ongoing. The victim sustained an estimated loss of RM300 as a result of the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage. — DayakDaily
