Motorcyclist killed in rear-end collision with lorry along Jalan Pakan–Julau

KUCHING, March 10: A 59-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a devastating crash involving a lorry along Jalan Pakan–Julau near Simpang Wak yesterday (March 9), after crashing into the vehicle and sustaining severe injuries.

Julau District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Alif Haiqal Ramesh Abdullah said the incident occurred at about 10.30am when a lorry was travelling from Bintangor towards Pakan.

Early investigations revealed that the lorry was moving straight along the road when a Honda Wave motorcycle from the opposite direction suddenly veered into its lane.

“As a result, the motorcycle ridden by the victim crashed into the left rear tyre of the lorry,” he said in a statement.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown onto the road shoulder, leaving him with serious head injuries.

The victim was taken to Pakan Health Clinic and later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
