Motorcyclist killed in late-night crash along Jln Kota Samarahan–Tabuan Jaya

KUCHING, Oct 17: A 30-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at Kilometre 14, Jalan Kota Samarahan–Tabuan Jaya, at 12.45am on Thursday (Oct 16).

According to TVS, Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said that the victim was from Kampung Rebak.

“Initial investigations found that the accident involved two vehicles—a Perodua Bezza and a Yamaha Y125ZR motorcycle, which the victim was riding,” he said, adding that the victim also had a 24-year-old female pillion rider.

He said that the 21-year-old car driver was travelling from Kuching towards Taman Samarindah, Kota Samarahan, when the accident occurred.

As the car driver continued driving after the traffic light turned green at the location, the victim’s motorcycle suddenly came from the right and crashed into the vehicle.

“The car driver was unharmed, while the pillion rider sustained minor injuries. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene at 12.50am,” he said.

The victim’s body was sent to Sarawak General Hospital for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
