Motorcyclist killed in fatal crash at Jalan Sungai Tapang

KUCHING, June 11: A 55-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a fatal accident along Jalan Sungai Tapang, this afternoon.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu revealed the incident involving a motorcycle and a van occurred at about 3pm near Tapang Emas Garden.

“In the incident, the victim, who is a construction site worker lost control (of his vehicle) and entered the opposite lane, before eventually hitting the front end of a van.


“As a result of the collision, the deceased from Jalan Stampin Kuching, suffered a severe head injury and was pronounced dead at the location by a medical officer from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH),” Alexson disclosed in a statement today.

The van driver was unharmed. The body of the deceased was taken to SGH for further action.

“Among the actions taken by the police include visiting the incident location, taking photos, and towing the vehicle involved to Padawan police station for inspection by Puspakom (Pusat Pemeriksaan Kenderaan Berkomputer) and the Chemistry Department.

“The case is being investigate and classified under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987,” Alexson added. — DayakDaily
