MIRI, Nov 9: A motorcyclist was killed when a lorry crashed into him, late Monday evening.
The 6.45pm incident was reported to have occurred adjacent to the Kampung Madinah junction along Jalan Miri-Bintulu.
According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the deceased has been identified as Kendawang Muning from Rumah Pete Milo Sungai Sebelayau Suai Niah.
“It was believed that the 61-year-old lorry driver had driven the lorry into the opposite lane and struck the motorcycle,” he said.
Prior to the crash, the lorry was heading towards Batu Niah from Bintulu.
The lorry driver was unharmed, while the deceased’s body has been taken to the Miri Hospital morgue for a postmortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
