KANOWIT, Sept 25: A motorcyclist lost his life after he collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle in an accident at KM18, Jalan Kanowit-Durin on Friday evening.
Kanowit District police chief DSP Tega Bilong said the victim, Francis Among Bundak, 42, died at the scene of the 4.50pm incident due to severe head injuries.
“Further investigation found that the accident occurred when the victim, who was riding a Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle, was believed to have entered the opposite lane and collided with the front right side of a four-wheel-drive vehicle driven by a 64-year-old man,” he said today.
He said the driver of the vehicle tried to avoid the collision by swerving to the left of the road but did not manage to do so.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kanowit Hospital paramedics,” he said.
The victim was an army retiree from the a longhouse in Lubok Mulong, Mukah.
Thee driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
“The case is being investigated in accordance with Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987,” he added. — DayakDaily
