KUCHING, Nov 30: A 26-year-old man died yesterday evening after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car at Jalan Kampung Punau, Padawan, yesterday.
Celectine Najep, from Kampung Serumah, Jalan Padawan, died on the spot in the 9.25pm incident.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, said the victim was confirmed dead at the scene by attending medical personnel from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
“A subcompact vehicle was heading straight from Kampung Bunuk towards Kampung Landeh when the motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction suddenly swerved into the subcompact vehicle’s lane and collided,” he said in a statement.
He noted that the deceased suffered from severe injuries on the head due to the collision, while the driver of the subcompact vehicle was unharmed.
Both vehicles were brought to Padawan district police station for the computerised vehicle inspection and examination by its Chemical Department.
The case in being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
