Motorcyclist dies in head-on collision on Miri-Bintulu road

MIRI, April 13: A 23 year-old rider succumbed to his injuries after he collided head-on with a lorry at KM124, along Miri-Bintulu road today.

The fatal crash was reported to have happened at 9.50am.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the deceased was identified as Nyangau Achi.

“He died on the spot due to serious injuries he sustained following the crash,” said Lim when contacted.

However, the driver of the lorry was unharmed.

According to Lim, prior to the incident, Nyangau was on his way back from work and heading towards Miri. The lorry was coming from the opposite direction.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that Nyangau’s motorcycle had entered the lorry’s lane before he crashed into the lorry,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
