Motorcyclist dies after crashing into the back of pickup truck in Lundu

LUNDU, May 4: A foreign man died in an accident involving two vehicles at Kilometre 21 of Jalan Lundu-Selampit here on May 2.

The victim, identified as 55-year-old Mohammad Saleh, was said to have lived in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Selampit, where he worked.

According to Lundu District police chief DSP Damateries Lautin, the victim was riding a motorbike when he collided with the back of a Toyota Hilux at around 4.50pm.


“The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics from Lundu Hospital,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota Hilux was reportedly uninjured.

Damateries added that further investigation of the case is still being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“The blood samples of both the driver and the motorcyclist have been collected and will be sent to the chemistry lab for analysis.

“The police are also requesting witnesses to come forward and assist with the investigation,” he stated. — DayakDaily
