Motorcycle rider, 60, dies after collision at Kpg Assyakirin junction

KUCHING, Aug 13: A 60-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after being involved in an accident at Kampung Assyakirin junction in Bintulu, today.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the man from Kampung Assyakirin, Phase three died at the accident site.

ā€œThe incident occurred at 6.45 am, when a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), driven by a 34-year-old man from Kuching, entering the junction towards Jalan Tanjung Batu, collided with the deceased, who was on a motorcycle waiting to exit the junction into the main road.


ā€œThe deceased from a broken left leg, including internal injuries, while the MPV driver escaped unharmed,ā€ he said in a press statement, today.

Alexson noted during the incident, the weather was good and the roads dry.

According to him, initial investigation found that the incident occurred when the MPV driver failed to control his vehicle when entering the junction, crashing into the deceased, who was on a motorcycle waiting to exit the junction.

ā€œThe case is still being investigated and is being classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ā€œThe deceased was sent to Bintulu Hospital for further action, and both vehicles involved in the incident were brought to the police station,ā€ he added.ā€”DayakDaily
