Motac to hold internal discussions with tourism players, operators to set compass for tourism

KUCHING, Feb 26: Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) will hold internal discussions with tourism players and operators to work on setting the right direction for tourism in the country.

Its minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said he reminded the media earlier about the importance of the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2025 as well as of focusing on boosting the tourism industry.

“Make no mistake, Motac is serious about putting Malaysia back on the tourism world map.

“A good tourism industry would mean a robust economy for Malaysia,” said Tiong in a Facebook post today.

Tiong said he will be holding more discussions with Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is also Finance Minister to inject additional funding for tourism promotion mentioned earlier and beyond Budget 2023’s RM250 million allocation.

“This includes an additional RM25 million to develop artistic and cultural activities at a community level,” he added.

Tiong also thanked tourism operators, mainstream media and independent influencers for always working with his ministry.

“Do continue to engage with us to help boost tourism to Malaysia together,” he said. — DayakDaily
