Morning drive turns fatal: Man killed in accident along Pan Borneo Highway in Miri

KUCHING, Oct 5: A 35-year-old local man was killed in a single-vehicle accident that took place along the Pan Borneo Highway near Kosa Estate, Batu Niah, Miri, today.

In a statement, Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the accident, which occurred at approximately 7.50am, saw the victim travelling from Batu Niah towards Miri.

“Upon reaching the Bintulu-Miri stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway, the driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road and crash into a road signpost,” he said, adding that the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police urge any members of the public who witnessed or have information about the accident to contact Traffic Investigating Officer Insp Mohd Faizul Ab. Rahim at 014-8582582 or 085-430479, or report to the nearest police station.
