KUCHING, June 30: Gawai Dayak is more than just a celebration, as it has now become a vehicle for unity among the various races and religions in Sarawak.

In a statement, political pundit Dato Peter Minos said that he has seen a surge in participation from non-Dayak communities in the Gawai Dayak festivities in towns and villages.

“I felt happy seeing them attending our Gawai Dayak functions. It showed growing unity and congeniality among the races at the grassroots level. This is true unity at work.

“When top leaders like our Premier join Gawai Dayak activities and functions, it shows their respect for the Dayaks, which makes us feel appreciated and wanted.

“May Gawai Dayak, like Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year, continue to foster greater unity in Sarawak.

“May a united Sarawak see a better and more prosperous future in the years to come.” — DayakDaily
