KUCHING, Jan 7: More than 30 projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) will be implemented in Mambong this year, said Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.

He said the projects under last year’s RTP were approved and are on the waiting list.

“For last year’s projects under the RTP, more than 30 projects that include farm roads, drainage systems, and infrastructure will be implemented (in Mambong constituency) this year.

“At the moment, we are still waiting for the Resident Office in Kuching and Serian to release the list of the projects (to be implemented this year),” he said.

Dr Jerip told reporters this today at the handing over of the upgrading drainage system project costing RM100,000 at Kampung Mambong, Jalan Borneo Heights.

The Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) project will be completed in six months.

Dr Jerip today also handed over a similar project at Kampung Bra’ang Payang to prevent floods affecting the St Claire Church in the village.

He said the RM50,000 project would also take about six months to complete.

The Mambong assemblyman pointed out that the RTP project is ongoing and not an election gimmick.

He explained that most of the RTP projects in the area were delayed, mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Present at the programme was Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) from Padawan sub-district office Julius Scott Sapong. — DayakDaily
